Virginia has a thriving film and television production industry and there are lots of ways to become involved. The Virginia Film Office online Hotline has the latest information about projects and events.If you are interested in working in production get a free listing in the Virginia Film OfficeReel-Scout online database of crew and services. You should also be listed in the Mid-Atlantic Production Services Directory that covers Virginia, Washington DC and Maryland. To register for the directory, go to Oz Publishing. It’s easy to get your property, town or region to be considered as a film location. Go to Submit Your Location. Students or recent grads may want to apply for one of the Virginia Film Office internships. Film fans will want to attend the excellent film festivals held throughout the state. Since the late 1980s the Film Office has sponsored the Virginia Screenwriting Competition, an opportunity for Virginia writers to have their work read and evaluated. Three prize winners are selected each year. The Virginia Production Alliance is a statewide organization providing opportunities and advocacy for Virginia’s film and television production community.
